Time zero and nema4

Post by Bassem ossama » Thu Dec 03, 2020 12:18 pm

Hello.

I am about to buy nema4 wifi and want to know if it will work with Timezero (navigation and sounder fishing)

& if it will work with an old sounder fishing or will need a protocol bridge?

Thanks.

Hello,

If Timezero uses Nnea0183 the answer is yes. I don't know Timezero and could not find the exact manual to be be more assertive. May someone reading this could answer. Or you send me the manual by PDF of your exact model by private email, and I could try to answer.

Is this fish finder will work with the nema?

Our work is commercial fishing.

Thanks and waiting for your reply.

Hello,

When you refer to Timezero are you referring to a software or to a fishfinder instrument? The best thing is for you to send me the model if it is fishfinder.

As per your last post you talk about depth transducers. So I think we are talking about an instrument. And on the second picture I can see Nmea0183 output. So you can get the data from your fishfinder and input it to the multiplexer. It is OK.

But what should do the multiplexer with the received data? Send it to a smartphone by WiFi? It is possible. But please be more specific.

we will use the NEMA 0183 multiplexer to connect with our (FUSO FEC 505 FISH FINDER ) then use PBG Module to can

Draw the Land of the sea. Refer link.

https://mytimezero.com/tz-professional/ ... -generator

Note some other brands for NEMA 0183 multiplexer need NMEA ProtocolBridge to connect with (old fishfinder)

Like this one QK-AS03 NMEA Protocol Bridge

Refer link.
https://www.quark-elec.com/product/qk-a ... ol-bridge/

So will we need this ProtocolBridge also, or will we not need it?

Hello,

Now I understand your question. And the answer is you need to try.

We are referring to the P5 output port of the multiplexer. This port has 3 pins: A5 B5 and GND. Possibly my Nnea2wifi multiplexer will do your job. In that case it's output port is P3 again with 3 pins: A3 B3 and GND.

You should use A5 and GND. NEVER connect B5. Forget it. Using A5 and GND you will have an output signal that varies between 0 and +5 volts. Most RS232 receivers will understand that signal. But in fact instead of varying from 0 to +5 volts the output signal should vary from -12 to +12 volts to be fully compatible with the RS 232 standard.

You could try my multiplexer (but never used B5 if you are connecting to a RS232 device). If it works you are fine. If it the driving signal is not sufficient you can return the multiplexer (30 days after purchase) and I will refund you. Or you can buy that bridge and you would be fine. With that bridge you could either use A5 and B5 (better noise robustness) or A5 and GND as before.
