no update button on webpage

Post by Maudie-IV » Thu Jul 13, 2023 8:15 pm

Hello
It's been a while since I updated my NMEA4WIFI unit firmware and it's several issues out of date.
So I tried to update my unit today and connected my pc via 192.168.4.1 and could see the setup page, but when scrolling down there was no update or file selection buttons. What have I missed?
Thanks
Paul

Having read some other posts re updating firmware, maybe my version predates uploading via WiFi and it'll have to be done with a cable connection.
I'll try next visit.

Hello,

I do not know the present version that you are using. I think if you type 192.168.4.1:82 you can do the update.

Hi Luis

I'm now wishing I had left it well alone!

My f/w version was 3.4 so was not able to update OTA and connected using a usb cable and followed the instructions using the ESP download tool.

However, I get no progress bar and a green SYNC flag while the black screen displays CONNECT BAUD: 115200 followed by a series of ....._____..... etc When I press STOP I get a message '2-sync fail'

I have set the Baud rate to 921600 and all other boxes as per the instructions. The unit is no longer generating a wifi network.

I am concerned that I have bricked the Wemos module even though the red and blue leds on the module are flashing in a sequence, so it seems to be listening to the PC and I have a data usb cable, not just power.

I think my NMEA4wifi may be an early version as in Device manger the usb port shows up as Silicon labs CP210x USB to UART bridge rather than the 340. Is this part of my problem?

In case it's the Wemos module can you tell me what I should buy as a replacement as there are multiple devices out there. Or hopefully you can advise what I'm doing wrong.

Many thanks

Paul

Well, just powered it off and back on and it seems to be working again, but still with f/w 3.4. So no further forward, but I still seem to have a working unit.
Very odd!

Luis
my latest attempt at OTA , using192.168.4.1:82 seems to have worked and I now have version 6.0 on board.
Not sure why I was struggling before but all good now.
Thanks
Paul
