- create an open (not protected) AP only network and/or
- also connect to an open (non protected) external network
In the case of connecting "also to an external network", we introduce this feature as we have been called the attention that some apps that act as an AP (Access Point) only work with no password. We also include this feature, although we think that the majority of the users will want the access to the multiplexer protected by a password.
However, we included an "SOS ressource" when the ESP32 module of the multiplexer refuses to accept connections by reporting a wrong password. This strange behaviour appeared one or two times during the development stages of the multiplexer without any plausible explanation. In the very improbable case that you encounter such a situation, you can regain control to the multiplexer by:
- - pressing and holding the hard reset switch (also labelled SW2) for about 10 seconds. As soon as you press that switch, all the LEDS go ON and about 2 seconds later they go OFF. If you release the switch at this stage, the multiplexer restarts with factory settings with password 12345678. However if you do not release the switch and maintain it pressed, you will see that after about 10 seconds the LEDS turn ON again. When that happens, you can release the switch and, as before, the multiplexer restarts with factory settings. However the AP only network that the multiplexer creates will now be open and not password protected. To return to the normal protected network you can:
- press the HARD RESET button in the main settings webpage or
- press/hold the hard reset switch and release it between 2 and 10 seconds after the initial pressing
