Bearing To Waypoint (BTW) display on Raymarine Autopilot

Post by dagnall » Mon Sep 05, 2022 5:24 pm

One of the great things about NMEA3 is that it can use its Seatalk "output" capability to simplify connections to Raymarine autopilots, and avoid the need to connect to the autopilot using NMEA.

But I discovered a small Seatalk issue in V15 where Bearings to waypoints (generated by InavX, but the same issue will occur for other plotter apps) were displaying on the autopilot as BTW (name).. and then "---" . Ie No bearing was being displayed. This did not affect autopilot function, but was irritating.

I have managed to overcome this limitation in a software update for NMEA3 that will become available late 2022.

BUT if this affects you, then you can still use V15, just make sure your waypoint names use ALL caps, and avoid Spaces.
