Seatalk issue

Post by agardener » Sun May 12, 2019 3:35 pm

I have an nmea2wifi connected to SeaTalk 1. Most of the Nmea output on wifi is perfect, except for the depth reading. Using opencpn to capture the data I can see the depth sentence is showing an incorrect value, yet the instruments (ST50 depth, tridata and multi, Raymarine ES75 chart plotter) all show the correct value. Here is a snapshot of the output:

You can see the depth sentence $SDDBT is showing 793.6 whereas I was really in 1m beneath keel!

I am also using an IPAD app called Imray instruments that show the same, incorrect data.

Have you any ideas how I can fix this please?

Thanks, Andrew Gardener

Dear Andrew,

I am sorry for this problem. There was a repeated error in the conversion software. There is a topic on the Nmea4Wifi forum about wrong Depth. I kindly ask you if you could flash binary file version 57 that I have just uploaded. I appreciate if you could report if the error is fixed.

Kind Regards

Hi, I have flashed to the updated firmware successfully, but there still seems to be an issue.

I am currently sitting in 3.9m of water (+1.5 offset) according to the Seatalk instrument, but the NMEA2WIFI is showing 12.7 metres.

here is an extract from the output...

<GREEN>16:04:20 (UDP:192.168.4.1:2000) $SDDBT,,,12.7,M,,*12<0x0D><0x0A>

You will see the depth is still overstated!

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you. Did you use bin 58? Please confirm. In version 58 I send depth in feet.

Hi!

There seems to be a problem with wind speed and also the depth. I get maxint figure for the depth and wind speed is double of what the Raymarine istrument shows. Is there a fix available or do you know what could cause this? Is there a firmware avalable that sends the data in meters and meters per second instead of feet and knots? Water temp works and also the wind direction (to some degree at least :) )

I am on firmware 58.
Thanks!
