Nmea2Wifi with iSailor and Navionics on iPad

Post by jesros » Wed Feb 27, 2019 6:28 pm

Hi
I have just installed the Nmea2Wifi unit in my boat. Everything works fine receiving NMEA data on my iPad over Wifi but i can´t send from my iPad. The Nmea2Wifi doesn´t seem to receive anything at all, no red led flashing or anything. I have set the right port (the default 1288 on both units) can anyone help?
I also have Navionics installed and trying to run that the app opens for a few second, reporting no internet connection and then closes down. Looking forward to get some good advice in here.
Regards
Jesper

Hello Jesper,

Unfortunately I have not Ipad to test, but I suggest you use the TCP protocol for the WiFi to Wired connection. Chose a common port number for the multiplexer (the server) and the app running on the Ipad (the client). On the client side enter the IP address of the server (192.168.4.1).

Also disconnect the mobile data in order for the Ipad to chose the NMEA2WIFI network. In some cases, when the wifi networks do not have Internet connectivity (as it is the case of multiplexer), they are ignored in favour of the mobile data.

Also note that TCP only supports one connection at a time. For the other direction (multiplexer to Ipad over wifi) please use UDP.

Regards, Luis
